Why Getting Your Ring Size Right Matters
A ring that's too tight is uncomfortable — one that's too loose can slip off and get lost. Since most rings, including our stainless steel and gold-plated rings, can't be resized the way solid gold rings can, finding your correct size before you order saves you a return and gets your ring fitting properly the first time.
Method 1: Measure an Existing Ring
Find a ring that already fits the finger you're buying for. Measure the inside diameter in millimeters using a ruler, or wrap a strip of paper around the inside edge and measure the length. Compare your measurement to a standard ring size chart to find your size — most charts list EU, US, and UK sizes side by side, since sizing systems vary by country.
Method 2: The String or Paper Strip Method
Wrap a piece of string or a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger where the ring will sit. Mark where the string overlaps, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters with a ruler. That measurement is your finger's circumference — match it against a sizing chart to get your size.
Method 3: Print a Ring Sizer at Home
A printable ring sizer (available as a free PDF from most jewelers) gives you a more precise reading than string or paper. Print it at 100% scale — don't let your printer auto-resize the page — then cut it out and wrap it around your finger to read your size directly off the chart.
Tips for Getting an Accurate Measurement
- Measure your finger at the end of the day, when it's slightly larger due to normal daily swelling.
- Avoid measuring when your hands are cold — fingers shrink slightly in cold temperatures.
- If you're between two sizes, size up rather than down.
- Knuckles wider than the base of your finger? Measure the knuckle too, and consider a slightly looser fit so the ring can pass over it comfortably.
Still Not Sure? Here's What We Recommend
If you're buying as a gift and can't measure the recipient's finger directly, borrow a ring they already wear on the correct finger and use Method 1. When in doubt, our ring collection includes adjustable styles that flex to fit a small range of sizes — a safe option when you're not 100% sure.
